On-site computer repair

Morzine

PC repair and IT support in Cluses and the Arve Valley

Morzine (~2 900 habitants), capitale des Portes du Soleil avec Avoriaz sur les hauteurs, à 40 minutes de Cluses. Forte communauté internationale, hôtels familiaux, locations : j'y interviens toute l'année — English spoken.

PC74 · Morzine

Your English-speaking IT technician in Morzine

Morzine has one of the largest English-speaking communities in the French Alps — chalet companies, seasonnaires, families who moved out for good, and hundreds of second-home owners. What it doesn't have is an English-speaking computer technician on call. That's where I come in: I'm based in Cluses, 40 minutes down the valley, and I've been fixing computers in Morzine's chalets and businesses for years.

Everything happens at your place: I drive up, sit down with your machine, explain what I'm doing in plain English, and agree the price before I start. No dropping your laptop in a shop in Thonon and hoping for the best — your data never leaves your sight.

PC or Mac, UK or French kit, personal laptop or the booking computer your whole chalet business runs on — I've almost certainly seen your problem before, and most faults are fixed in a single visit.

Areas

Where I work in Morzine

Morzine centre & Rue du Bourg

Apartments, hotels and businesses in the village core. Easy access, quick visits — often same-day when I'm doing a Morzine round.

The Pléney & Ski-in areas

Chalets along the slopes and residences used by chalet companies. I coordinate with managers when owners are in the UK.

Montriond & the lake road

The quieter side of the valley: year-round homes, gîtes and the businesses along the route du lac.

Avoriaz (1,800 m)

Pedestrian resort — I park at the entrance and continue on foot or by sledge-taxi like everyone else. Plan a slightly longer slot; the WiFi problems up there are worth the trip.

Streets and places covered

Route du Bourg, avenue de Joux Plane, route de la Plagne, route des Ardoisières, chemin de la Coutettaz, the Prodains cable-car area and the Montriond lake road. If your chalet is up a private track, tell me on the phone — I've yet to meet a driveway that stopped an intervention.

Businesses and professionals in Morzine

Chalet-hosting companies with a dozen laptops and a booking system that cannot go down on transfer day; bars and restaurants with tills and card terminals; ski schools; independent instructors; and a growing crowd of remote workers on UK contracts who need their VPN, Teams and dual screens working flawlessly at altitude.

Local tip

Changeover Saturday is sacred — so is your WiFi

If the chalet WiFi dies on a Saturday in February, you have 15 guests arriving at 5pm who booked partly because of it. Call me early: Saturday morning slots in Morzine go first. Better still, book a pre-season network check in November or early December — a €60 visit beats an emergency any week of the winter.

Recent jobs in Morzine

Chalet company

Booking laptop dead on a Friday

Cloned the failing disk to an SSD, restored the booking software, back online before the evening arrivals list was due. The owner now has an automatic backup — and my number on the fridge.

Remote worker

VPN dropping during calls

UK-contract engineer working from the Pléney: the chalet's old router couldn't hold the corporate VPN. Mesh setup + wired desk point — stable calls, no more frozen screen-shares.

Second-home owner

Coordinated from Manchester

Owner in the UK, cleaner has the keys: I fixed the apartment's dead PC and new printer between two rentals, sent photos and an invoice by email. Nobody needed to fly out.

Frequently asked questions in Morzine

Do you actually speak English? +

Yes — comfortably enough to explain a failed disk, a phishing email or a mesh network without either of us reaching for a dictionary. A large share of my Morzine clients are English speakers.

Can you help while I'm back in the UK? +

Yes. Give me a contact on site (cleaner, concierge, neighbour) and I'll handle the visit, then send you photos, a summary and the invoice by email. Payment by card link or transfer.

Can you sort the WiFi in a big old chalet? +

That's half my job up here. Thick stone walls and three floors kill single-router WiFi; a properly placed mesh system covers the whole building, including the boot room where the seasonnaires live on their phones.

My laptop is from the UK — is that a problem? +

None at all. UK keyboards, UK Windows, UK plugs — I work on them daily. If a part is needed I'll source the right one, and your QWERTY stays QWERTY.

How much is the call-out to Morzine? +

The travel fee for the Morzine valley is quoted upfront on the phone and added to the normal flat rates (from €60). If I can group your visit with others in the valley, it comes down — being flexible on timing saves you money.
