Les Gets

PC repair and IT support in Cluses and the Arve Valley

Les Gets (~1 200 habitants), station-village des Portes du Soleil à 35 minutes de Cluses par Taninges. J'y dépanne chalets, locations saisonnières et commerces de la station — WiFi robuste et interventions express en saison.

PC74 · Les Gets

Your English-speaking IT technician in Les Gets

Les Gets is a village of 1,200 that hosts tens of thousands — and a remarkable number of them are British: second-home owners who've been coming for twenty years, families who moved here for the school runs on skis, and chalet businesses run in English. When a computer breaks here, the nearest shop is a valley away and doesn't necessarily speak your language.

I'm PC74 — an independent technician based in Cluses, 35 minutes away via Taninges. I come to your chalet or business, fix the problem in front of you, and explain everything in English. Flat rates agreed before I start, 7 days a week.

From a MacBook that won't boot to a whole-chalet WiFi overhaul before the season, most jobs are done in one visit — and if I can't fix it, you don't pay.

Areas

Where I work in Les Gets

Village centre & Rue du Centre

Apartments, shops and hotels in the heart of Les Gets. Quick access, often combined with other visits in the village the same day.

Les Chavannes

The sunny side with its big family chalets — the classic « the WiFi doesn't reach the top floor » territory.

La Turche & Les Perrières

Residential areas with year-round homes and rental properties I often visit between changeovers.

Route des Platons & the outskirts

Isolated chalets up the hillsides. Steep private tracks in winter don't scare me — I live in the Alps too.

Streets and places covered

Rue du Centre, route du Front de Neige, chemin des Chavannes, route de la Turche, les Perrières, route des Platons and the road out towards Les Chèvrerets. Wherever the snowplough goes, I go.

Businesses and professionals in Les Gets

Chalet companies and property managers running bookings, smart locks and guest WiFi; the shops and restaurants of the rue du Centre with their tills and terminals; the bike-park economy in summer (GoPro footage recovery is a real service here); and remote workers who chose Les Gets for the view without giving up their UK clients.

Local tip

Book the pre-season check before the first snow

Every December I get the same calls: guest WiFi down, booking PC refusing updates, printer dead just when contracts need printing. In November the village is quiet, my diary is open and travel is easy — a pre-season check of the chalet's tech costs one flat rate and saves a season of stress.

Recent jobs in Les Gets

Second-home owner

Twenty years of photos on a dying Mac

An iMac from 2013 wouldn't start with two decades of family ski photos inside. Data recovered to a new SSD and a cloud backup — the machine got three more years, the photos are now unlosable.

Chalet business

Guest WiFi across three buildings

Mesh network over the main chalet and two annexes, separate guest network, owner's office wired. One system, one password per network, zero complaints since.

Restaurant

Till frozen on a Saturday lunchtime

Emergency visit between services: corrupted update rolled back, till running before the evening sitting. Now on a maintenance schedule — updates happen on Mondays, never weekends.

Frequently asked questions in Les Gets

Do you work in English? +

Yes — a good part of my Les Gets clientele is British and we work entirely in English, from diagnosis to invoice.

Can you visit between two rental changeovers? +

That's my speciality here. Give me the window (usually Saturday morning), I coordinate with your property manager or cleaner, and the tech is sorted before the next guests arrive.

Do you charge extra for coming up to Les Gets? +

There's a travel fee, announced upfront, on top of the normal flat rates (from €60). Flexible on the day? I'll slot you into my next Les Gets round and reduce it.

Can you recover crashed GoPro or drone footage? +

Often, yes — corrupted SD cards are a summer classic in the bike park. Stop using the card immediately and call; the less it's touched, the better the odds.

PC and Mac both? +

Both, daily. Macs are common among the second-home crowd and have their own flat rate (€90); everything else starts at €60.
