When to reinstall Windows in Cluses

Windows 10 vs Windows 11 — what to choose in 2026?

• Windows 10: extended support until October 2025 (paid ESU after). Avoid on a new PC.
• Windows 11: strict requirements (TPM 2.0, UEFI, compatible CPU). Works on most PCs bought after 2018.

If your PC doesn't meet Windows 11 requirements, two options: stay on Windows 10 with a solid antivirus, or consider moving to Linux Mint to extend the machine's life. I advise based on your usage.

Migration from an older PC

Tip: SSD before reinstall

For a PC built between 2014 and 2020 still equipped with a mechanical hard drive, I always suggest installing Windows directly on a new SSD (€ 100 to 150 hardware depending on capacity). The PC boots 5 to 10 times faster and becomes pleasant for another 3 to 5 years.
